October 16, 1847

The following is a transcription of the letter that Emanuel Jackson (1786) wrote to Isaac Fontaine Hite on October 16, 1847 in which he asks the likelihood of being able to buy Daniel’s wife, Matilda, and son, Emanuel, for $1000, which is $36,343 in today’s currency.1
